Who We Are

Fraternity • Charity • Community • Since 1898

Our Mission

The Fraternal Order of Eagles is an international non-profit organization united fraternally in the spirit of liberty, truth, justice and equality, to make human life more desirable by lessening its ills and promoting peace, prosperity, gladness and hope.

Here in Alameda, we live that mission through fellowship, charitable giving, community involvement and simply being there for one another. For more than 120 years, Alameda Eagles Aerie #1076 has brought people together under one simple belief: People Helping People.

Our History

IMG_5447.jpeg

The Fraternal Order of Eagles was founded in February 1898 by six theatre owners who gathered in a Seattle shipyard to discuss a musicians’ strike. After resolving the matter, they agreed to “bury the hatchet” and formed what they first called “The Order of Good Things.”

As the organization grew, members selected the Bald Eagle as their official emblem and adopted the name Fraternal Order of Eagles. Since those early days, the F.O.E. has grown into an international organization dedicated to fraternity, charity and community service.

Alameda Aerie #1076 became part of that tradition in 1905, beginning more than a century of fellowship and service right here in Alameda.
